Day Eight

Wheels rolling by 8am today and made a bee line for Pikes Peak. Riding up the first few corners reminded me of the Mount Washington Auto Road, and then above the tree line it all changed.

Due to construction at the top, a shuttle was forced at mile 19. However, the parking lot attendant and the shuttle driver saw I had come from Boston they decided I needed to stay socially distant for my own health and continue on to the top on my own two wheels. Names redacted, you know who you are - thank you.

While at the top I couldn’t help but think how crazy the drivers and riders are that compete on this road each year, and conquer the whole thing in ~10min.

The way back down was even better as the views of the surrounding area just kept pouring in.

Leaving Pikes Peak and onto Idaho Springs area, on some of the best curvy roads I’ve every been on. Just endless fun, camping at Cold Creek for the night.
