Day Ten
Rode from Estes Park to Arapaho National Forest, to Steamboat Springs and onto Vernal, Utah. 340 miles of the most varied landscape in a single day I’ve ever seen. Snow covered peaks to start, winding canyon roads following a river, lush forests, high plains, green mountains to desert. Mind officially blown.
The morning was hands down the best stretch of road I’ve ever been on, 2000 feet of constant elevation changes, perfect pavement with shaded spots scattered about and endless 50mph sweeping curves. Judging by the number of other riders I saw, its a local favorite as well.
While in Steamboat Springs for lunch I stopped at Walmart and bought 8 tent stakes, 4 10” steel spikes to replace the crappy 8” aluminum ones and 4 plastic screw type for deep sand. See Day 6.
